After a two-year break due to corona, the world’s fastest motorsport returns to the Hockenheimring: The 35th edition of the NitrOlympX will take place from 26th to 28th August 2022 on the Rico Anthes Quartermile in the Motodrom. After the long wait, fans can once again look forward to 100% high speed, action and power as well as speed duels at the highest level.

For the participants of the FIM as well as the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, valuable points for the overall championship are important in Hockenheim. The first round of the European Drag Racing Championship, which took place in Santa Pod/England at the end of May, already offered a good impression of the performance level after the motorsport lockdown. A new record set by top fuel newcomer Ida Zetterström and several other European best performances made it clear that the teams have mastered the lockdown phase very well.

Car and motorcycle classes

The wide spectrum of drag racing at NitrOlypmX includes both car and motorcycle classes. The cars include the “Big Boys”, the Top Fuel Dragsters, as well as the Top Methanol, Pro Modified and Pro Stock classes, all competing in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. The Professionals will reach top speeds of over 500km/h. The starting field will be joined by a number of amateur classes, which are no less exciting and feature top-class drivers.

In the motorcycle category, Top Fuel, Super Twin, Pro Stock, Super Street and Junior Drag Bikes will compete in the FIM European Drag Racing Championship. There are also various Sportsman classes which fight hard for every hundredth of a second. With top speeds just under the 400km/h mark, the Rico Anthes Quartermile is considered a dream track for bike pilots.

Not only the numerous different racing classes, vehicles and race models invite the fans to be amazed, the open paddock also offers the unique opportunity to look over the shoulders of the teams and drivers at close quarters while they are wrenching away.

Nightshow on Saturday evening

If all this still hasn’t pumped enough adrenaline through your veins, you shouldn’t miss another highlight of the weekend: the legendary nightshow on Saturday evening. As soon as dusk falls over the Motodrom and spotlights bathe the drag strip in colored light, it’s showtime. A breathtaking mix of grandiose entertainment with lots of action and high speed is offered. Wild stunts, meter-high flames and fireworks are guaranteed.
