As the motto goes: Keep straight ahead! The Public Race Days let you do something you’d never get away with in normal traffic: Putting your foot down without any speed limit! The event surrounding the iconic battles fought out by private drivers along the quarter mile of the Hockenheimring has been held since 2005. On 11 and 12 August, every participant is asked if they want to compete against an opponent with their vehicle, car or motorbike, from standstill over a distance of 402.33 metres. Two drivers each, divided into different performance classes, start next to one another in separate lanes. A valid racing licence is not required, only a road legal vehicle, a valid driver’s licence and the courage to compete.
The Public Race Days are basically all about fun – and there’s no exception at the 2018 event: That means the iconic VW, public race motorbike and car challenges are set to take place again – the fastest driver of the day being crowned that evening on the drag strip. Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines!

Besides hobby racers, the dragster professionals offer truly special demonstration runs during the test & tune sessions – with no end of smoke and speed! Whoever wants to see these high-powered monsters battling it out for the European drag racing crown can do so at the NitrOlympX held a week later from 17-19 August 2018.
