The 2025 season of the FIM European Drag Racing Championship consists of four races in total. The NitrOlympX marks the start of the second half of the championship – an ideal time to look back on what has happened so far.
The traditional season opener took place from the 23rd to the 26th of May at the Main Event in Santa Pod. Unfortunately, this race could not be completed due to weather conditions.
The eliminations had to be stopped in the semi-finals because heavy and continuous rain made it impossible to continue. The second round was held from 7th to 10th of August at the Tierp Arena in Sweden. There, the races could be held as planned, and there were some thrilling duels and important points for the championship.
Here are the current standings before the third race at the Hockenheimring:
Top Fuel Bike
Reigning champion Rikard Gustafsson from Sweden took maximum points in both Pod and Tierp and currently sits comfortably at the top of the points table with 156 points. Behind him, with 93 points, is Frenchman Eric Richard, ahead of Glenn Borg from Malta, who comes to the Motodrom with 75 points.
Super Twin Bike
The reigning champion left no room for doubt in the twin-cylinder class either: Marcus Christiansen from Denmark grabbed all the points he could and enters the ring with a 153-point lead. He is followed closely by Swedish veteran Per Bengtson with ‘The Beast’ and 128 points, ahead of Roman Sixta from the Czech Republic with 79 points.
Swiss rider Martin Bühler is currently in fifth place with 48 points from the first two events. Former Top Gas rider Carsten Hormann from Germany has made the leap into the premier class and comes to NitrOlympX with an ex-Rolfsstad bike and 10 points from Tierp.
Pro Stock Bike
In this class, the vice-champion (and 2023 champion) is currently leading the charge for the throne: Bertrand Maurice (FRA) scored 158 points in the first two races and comes to the Rico Anthes Quartermile as the leader ahead of his compatriot Jerome Rougemont with 92 points.
Reigning European champion Jörg Lymant from Germany is currently in 4th place (84 points), followed by the second DMSB rider Karl-Heinz Weikum.
Super Street Bike
In the Super Street Bike class, Alan Morrison Junior, the 2023 and 2024 champion, has already surpassed the ‘two hundred point mark’ due to the large number of participants and comes to Hockenheim as the leader ahead of Luke Farrugia (176) from Malta and Jake Meachaell (166) from Great Britain.
The German representatives in this class are also doing very well at the moment: Ricardo Grauer from Berlin set a new personal best of 7.387 seconds in Santa Pod, and his father Clemens ‘Wally’ Walleit smashed the German record of 7.334 (also set by him) when he set a time of 7.089 on the Swedish asphalt in Tierp.
Junior Drag Bike Cup
Unlike the other classes, the junior bikers only had one round – in England. The twelve riders who were ranked therefore all come from the UK (except for one ‘exotic’ rider from the Netherlands):
At the top is Declan Butt with 69 points, followed by Alia Lester (68) ahead of Sophie Pollen with 66 points. The reigning Junior Queen, Hollie King, is in seventh position.
