The 2025 drag racing season is over – and the FIM E Champions have been crowned: Rikard Gustafsson (Top Fuel), Marcus Christiansen (Super Twin), Jörg Lymant (Pro Stock), Jake Mechaell (Super Street Bike) and Alia Lester (Junior Drag Bike Cup) took the titles in their respective categories at the fourth and final round of the 2025 FIM European Drag Bike Championship. As with their four-wheeled counterparts, this year’s championship was extremely competitive and in some cases it was unclear who would take home the overall title until the very last race.
TOP FUEL
Okay, in the TF class the tension was more behind Rikard Gustafsson; wherever he appeared he took no prisoners and travelled back to Sweden with maximum points every time. He raised the bar a few notches higher in Top Fuel with a breathtaking time of 5:6382 seconds, setting a new European record and marking the second-fastest TFB pass ever recorded worldwide. He crowned his championship (253 points) with the biggest trophy from Pod, meaning that event victory and championship ‘went hand in hand’. Stuart Crane (GBR) took the title of runner-up with 199 points ahead of third-placed Eric Richard from France with 184 points.
SUPER TWIN
In the two-cylinder category, almost the entire season was a duel between the Dane Marcus Christiansen with his V-Twin and the Swede Per Bengtsson with his Paralelltwin ‘the Beast’. The final of the last race then brought success for both riders: Bengtson took the event win and Christiansen was able to put a tick behind his sixth championship in a row with 301 points in his account: Check!… Bengtson finished second with a 27-point gap. In third place was the Czech Roman Sixta (130 points).
PRO STOCK BIKE
This class was extremely hard-fought: German Jörg Lymant defeated Martin Bishop (GBR) in the final and took the second PS title in a row with 200 points. Behind him, Maurice Bertrand from France prevailed in a thrilling battle for second place with just one point ahead (187 vs. 186) against NitrO- lympX winner Karl-Heinz Weikum (GER).
SUPER STREET BIKE
All the performance floodgates are currently open in this class and an incredible performance wave is sweeping through the European scene: after the excellent results at the NOX, there was another historic bump spot: 7:2816 seconds – meaning that all sixteen qualified riders had to ride under this mark, which was good for the European record not so long ago. In one of the closest title fights in recent years, Jake Mechaell (GBR / 372 pts) took the title with just one point ahead of podium winner Luke Farrugia from Malta. Last year’s champion Alan Morrison Jnr. was just ten points behind in third place. German riders Clemens ‘Wally’ Walleit and Ricardo Grauer finished the season in fourteenth and twentieth place respectively.
JUNIOR DRAG BIKE CUP
The youngsters also fought hard for the points on offer. Hollie King (Great Britain) won the final in Santa Pod and finished third in the championship with 186 points. Her compatriot Alia Lester secured the Cup with 201 points. She was followed by Declan Butt with 189 points. The only German participant in the FIM Cup was Leif-Erik Braune, who finished the season in eleventh place.
